Food for Thought

"Think not of yourselves, O Chiefs,
nor of your own generation.
Think of continuing generations of our families,
think of our grandchildren
and those yet unborn,
whose faces are coming from
beneath the ground"

The above words were spoken by "Peacemaker", founder of the Iroquois Confederacy, circa 1000 A.D., they ring clear as a bell to me in regards to not only my Native heritage battles but my Southron battles as well.

With each new day, someone, somewhere lays attack to the heritage of our ancestors, to the heritage that is our own. And with each new day, the enemy becomes more hateful and more determined to wipe away forever those things that make up our personal self. These are your personal internal makeup qualities as well, these are the things that make all who are reading this unique, though for the most part like-minded.

The past few weeks have been sad ones. Not only in my life, but in the lives of so many Southrons. We all felt the loss of Hannah , that young lady had no idea, I am sure, just how many thousands of peoples lives she touched in her short time on the Creator's Earth. Though she is gone from this world, the impact she made upon those who knew her closely, as well of those of us who only knew her through her music, will live on forever. There is much greatness in that. I most sincerely pray that knowing this brings comfort and healing to her family and friends, the world is a "little less" without her.

More or less of the same, can be said of Mrs. Alberta Martin.
She now continues her long and valiant fight in this world, yet think how tired she must be! Think of all the changes in the world that she has witnessed, the good and the bad. She is as far as we know, the last living person to have wed one of our Confederate veterans. Just runnin that thought through my head, literally boggles my mind. The last Confederate veteran's widow. A living porthole to the past we try so hard to remember and honour.

The world has changed in just the length of time I have been typin this post. It has probably changed for the worse, as it seems good changes are very few and far between these days.
Yet, knowing that bad appears to win more these days than good, somehow that re-kindles my spirit from within. It breathes new life into me, and I intend to do my best and with honor, to fight even harder than the day before. To do less, is not an option, it is a death sentence for our heritage, for our rights as as our founding fathers saw them. and for the South and her children, as well as Indian people from all over. I will have no part in apathy within the Cause nor willingly sit back and let someone else do a job I am capable of doing, just because it takes some time away from something else that generally is less important.

I'd like to close this post with a teachin I recieved back in the 80's in a most troubled time in my life.....the words are from Tadodaho Leon Shenandoah one of the "Wisdom Keepers".
"Look behind you. See your sons and daughters. They are your future..Look farther and see your son's and daughter's children' and their children's children even unto the Seventh Generation. That is the way we were taught. Think about it: you ,yourself are a seventh generation!"

Humble in the Shadows of so many good people who have gone on before, I remain as always vigilant behind enemy lines.
